April through August was a busy time for all of us, but especially for Katie and Sarah.
The last week of high school came early for the girls, April 11th so that the Class of 2014 could prepare for their IB Exams. The girls had a blast their last week. Each day had a theme finishing with Beach Day, Senior Prank, and a school-wide water gun fight.
While preparing for their IB Exams, they made several college visits so that they could decide where they were going to be spending a good part of their next four years. Thinking that Katie would likely be attending UCLA, we took a long 14 hour trip through Dallas to Los Angeles. During that time we visited UCLA and Occidental College (for Sarah). During our trip, we took a detour to Universal Studios (an interesting way to spend Easter) and visited with friends we had not seen for 10 years or so. Both girls decided that California was not for them.

After California, Katie made her decision -- University of Aberdeen, Scotland. The college decision would not be so easy for Sarah. In March, we had visited NYU, then April, Occidental. After arriving home from California, Middlebury College joined the list of contenders. Off to Middlebury, Vermont for a cold, rainy weekend. Sarah fell in love with Middlebury and the decision was finally made. Sarah would become a Middlebury Panther.
After suffering through the IB Exams, Katie and Sarah returned to FIS for the ISSTs. Frankfurt hosted the tournament so we got to host our friends from Cairo. While the girls had fun, things did not go so well for FIS. They ended up playing their final game to avoid relegation and last place. With Katie pitching and supplying the hitting, FIS squeaked out a victory. Katie was named to the All-Tounament Team.
Katie and Sarah ended their high school sports careers, but sharing the FIS Female Athelete of the Year Award.
