July, 11, 2013 -- Day 2
I forced the issue and we all got up early today to get to the Lourve before it got very crowded. We were very successful. With no line, we entered the Lourve at 9:15 am and finished our visit around noon. Unlike Sarah's first experience there, you could walk right up to the Mona Lisa without being pushed and shoved.
After the Lourve, we strolled through the Tuileries Garden, stopping for a short rest on the chairs in the park. Next stop, lunch at the Paris/London Cafe where Ana, Elinor and Sarah tried escargot for the first time. They all liked. Ana and Katie had French Onion soup. After lunch, we stopped at Laduree (the most famous macaroon place in Paris) and bought a good number to take home. Last, but not the least shopping on the Champs-Elysees. Katie made a purchase in the Addidas Store; the rest of the gang made their purchases in Sephora (it took them 35 minutes). Ana and Sarah went into one shoe store, but got sticker shock when they realized that the shoes that they were looking at were 900 Euro. After shopping, we headed back to the hotel and checked out. My feet and back may never be the same, but we all had a great time.
