October 3, 2012 -- Arrival in Prague

October 3, 2012 -- Arrival in Prague

After only a 50 minute plane ride from Frankfurt, we arrive in Prague around noon.  After leaving our luggage, we set out to explore the city.  The weather is good (a little chilly but sunny).  We are staying at the Intercontinental Hotel and it is only a short walk from the hotel to the Old Town Center.  We quickly decide to have some Czech ham for lunch (looked really good, but it was pretty salty).  Then we went on to explore!  Here are some shots from the first day!

This clock, on one of the towers, was first installed in 1410.  It is the third oldest astronomical clock and the oldest one still working.  The only problem with this clock is that at the time everyone believed that the earth was the center of the universe.

People you know in Prague!  Where in the world is S?

One of S's favorite treats -- Trdelník -- dough wrapped around poles and then cooked over a charcoal fire, then sugar is added and you have a special treat.  In some places, they put nutella inside.

This is my favorite place -- potato chips on a stick!
