Day One Venice
We arrived in Venice, cloudy skies, but no rain. Unfortunately, that did not last long. We stopped for lunch and by the time we left the restaurant it was raining. Despite the weather, we meandered through the streets of Venice. S fell in love with the city within moments of arrival. Chris went to a ticket window to pick up the city tickets he had purchased for the transit system, public bathrooms etc. There was a technical problem with the order. We waited 45 minutes for the woman at the ticket booth to resolve the issue. In the meantime, the line grew behind him (I am sure he was cursed out by everyone in line), we froze, but tried to make the best of the situation by taking pictures. Afterward, we headed to a cafe for coffee. After coffee, we headed back to the hotel to dry out. Dinner was good, not great. Getting there was an effort. Finding your way through the streets of Venice is a challenge. There is a reason why the city offers Wifi for a fee -- navigation systems on cell phones are not a necessity, but would clearly help. We relied on Chris's map reading. Considering how confusing Venice is, he did quite well.
