December 18, 2013 -- The Christmas Market Tour Continues

December 18, 2013 -- Rothenburg Christmas Market with K, S, Meg, Lena and Beate

After breakfast, we left Nuremburg behind and drove about an hour to Rothenburg.  After checking into our hotel, we were off to explore the town.  We started with a walk around the medieval wall.  From there, we checked out the Christmas Market.  Katie and I had the worst soup at one of the stands (Campbells would certainly have been gourmet compared to this soup).  Surprisingly, the market was small, but the two huge Käthe Wolhfahrt Shops more than make up for it.  We stopped at a Schee Ballen Shop.  Lena impressed us as she finished her Schee Ball.  After shopping, we went to dinner at a Greek restaurant (the Corsicos could not handle anymore wursts or German food).  We missed the Night Watchman's Tour in English so Megan and Sarah went to the one at 9:30 pm in German.  They had a great time.  Apparently, S needs to work on her German skills.  Meg said that after the Night Watchman spoke for almost 20 minutes, S would translate a sentence.  They understood very little, but despite their language difficulties they had a great time.  In fact, the two of them could not stop laughing as they recounted their tour to us.
